The Children’s Division, ages 3 thru 8,  is divided into: Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet and Ballet Fundamentals I

The focus of this division is to provide body awareness, musicality, flexibility, coordination, and basic ballet vocabulary. Our goal is to ignite, nurture, and fully engage the imaginations of children through the joy of movement and creative expression.

Creative Movement

Class Schedule:  See Class Schedules and Tuition

  • Prerequisites: None
  • Offered classes per week: Two
  • For children age 3 and above (must be potty trained).
  • Class Period: 45 minutes
  • Class Description: Children will work on counting music and moving in rhythm to the music.

Pre-Ballet

  • Prerequisites: None
  • Offered classes per week: Two
  • Class Period: One hour
  • Class Description: Students will learn basic ballet positions and participate in fun exercises to increase their musicality and flexibility.

Ballet Fundamentals I (Year 1 and 2)

  • Prerequisites: None
  • Offered classes per week: Two
  • Class Period: One hour
  • Class Description: In the first level the goal is to introduce the students to elementary exercises that will allow them to master the placement of the body (core), legs, arms and head. They are introduced to several of the basic movements of ballet such as bending of the legs (plié), raising on the ball of the feet (releve), and stretching of the legs (tendu, & jete). They also learn the appropriate way to execute gliding and jumping movements, as well as developing flexibility. They begin to learn preparation for turning exercises.
